CARTER: WHITE HOUSE MANIPULATED IRAQ INTEL

ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEW YORK - November 02, 2005 - (AP) - The Bush Administration's prewar claims that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction were "manipulated, at least" to mislead the American people, former President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday.

The decision to go to war was the culmination of a long-term plan to attack Iraq that resulted from the first President Bush not taking out Saddam, Carter said on NBC's "Today" show.

Carter also said he supports the move by Senate Democrats to force an update on the investigation into prewar intelligence on Iraq, and says Republicans have been dragging their feet on the investigation.

Democrats Tuesday used a rarely invoked Senate rule to force a secret session as a way to dramatize their assertions that the Bush administration misused intelligence in the run-up to the war in Iraq.

A bipartisan committee has been appointed to review the investigation.

Philosopher's Stone & prosecution for war crimes

Admiral Michael Boyce, the leader of the British invasion force, said that he now believed his country's military did not have "the legal cover necessary to avoid prosecution for war crimes," The Observer reports. Boyce added that if he and his officers were eventually put on trial for waging aggressive war, he'd make sure that Blair and Goldsmith were in the dock beside them.

By Chris Floyd - Global Eye

Published: November 3, 2005

Last week, a legal thunderbolt struck at the heart of the grubby conspiracy that led the United States and Britain into an illegal war of aggression against Iraq. But this searing blow didn't fall in Washington, where a media frenzy raged over a White House indictment, but in southern England, in a military courtroom, where a lone soldier stood against the full force of the great war-crime enterprise, armed only with a single, rusty, obsolete weapon: the law.

While Potomac courtiers were reading the entrails of the cooked goose of Scooter Libby -- the first Bushist honcho caught in the slow-grinding gears of special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation -- in Wiltshire, Flight Lieutenant Malcolm Kendall-Smith faced a court martial after declaring that the Iraq war was illegal and refusing to return for his third tour of duty there, The Guardian reports.

He has been charged with four counts of "disobeying a lawful command." But Kendall-Smith, a decorated medical officer in the Royal Air Force, says that his study of the recently revealed evidence about the lies, distortions and manipulations used to justify the invasion has convinced him that both the war and the occupation are "manifestly illegal." Thus any order arising from this criminal action is itself an "unlawful command," The Sunday Times reports. In fact, the RAF's own manual of law compels him to refuse such illegal orders, Kendall-Smith insists.

The flight lieutenant is no ordinary war protester, and no shirker of combat -- unlike, say, the pair of prissy cowards at the head of the U.S.-British "coalition." Kendall-Smith, who has dual New Zealand-British citizenship -- and a pair of university degrees in medicine and Kantian moral philosophy -- has served three tours at the front in Afghanistan and Iraq. He is not claiming any conscientious objections against war in general, nor do religious scruples play any part in his stance. It is based solely on the law.

Central to his case are the sinister backroom legal dealings between London and Washington in the days before the invasion. Less than two weeks before the initial "shock and awe" bombings began slaughtering civilians across Iraq, Lord Goldsmith, the British attorney general, gave Prime Minister Tony Blair a detailed briefing full of doubts and equivocations about the legality of the coming war, adding that Britain's participation in an attack unsanctioned by the United Nations would "likely" lead to "close scrutiny" by the International Criminal Court for potential war crimes charges, The Observer reports.

"TUTORED" BY THE BUSH GANG'S CONSIGLIERES

But Blair and Goldsmith withheld this report from Parliament, the Cabinet and British military brass, who were demanding a clear-cut legal sanction for the impending action. Then, just three days before the bloodletting began, Goldsmith suddenly produced another paper, this time for public consumption: a brief, clear, unequivocal statement that the invasion would be legal. This statement was almost certainly crafted in Washington, where Goldsmith had recently been "tutored" by the Bush gang's consiglieres, including the legal advisers to Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleezza Rice.

Leading this pack of war-baying legal beagles was George W. Bush's top counsel, Alberto Gonzales, who had overseen the White House's own efforts to weasel out of potential war crimes charges by declaring -- without any basis in Anglo-American jurisprudence or the U.S. Constitution -- that Bush was not bound by any law whatsoever in any military action he undertook: a blank check for aggression, murder and torture that Bush has gleefully cashed over and over. Alberto and the boys leaned hard on Goldsmith, who finally caved in and replicated the Americans' contorted and specious legal arguments for launching the attack.

FIX THE FACTS AND THE INTELLIGENCE AROUND THE POLICY

Of course, Kendall-Smith knew none of this during his first two tours in Iraq: Goldsmith's Bush-induced backflip was only divulged in April 2005. Nor did he know then of the "Downing Street Memos," the "smoking gun" minutes that record Blair's inner circle dutifully lining up behind Bush's hell-bent drive for war -- as far back as 2002 -- and their conspiracy with the Bush gang to manipulate their countries into war. The memos, which emerged in May 2005 and have never been denied or repudiated by the British government, show Blair's slavish acquiescence in Bush's criminal scheme to "fix the facts and the intelligence around the policy" of unprovoked military aggression. Confronted with this new evidence -- and revelations about the mountain of doubts expressed by U.S. intelligence before the invasion but deliberately ignored by the Bushist war party -- Kendall-Smith took the only honorable course for a soldier who has been duped into serving an evil cause.

The moral rigor of his defiance has sent tremors through the British military establishment, already shaken by the strange, unexplained shooting deaths of two military inspectors investigating atrocity allegations in Iraq, The Guardian reports. British brass are panicky about the Goldsmith revelations; indeed, the leader of the British invasion force, Admiral Michael Boyce, said that he now believed his country's military did not have "the legal cover necessary to avoid prosecution for war crimes," The Observer reports.

BOYCE ADDED THAT IF HE AND HIS OFFICERS WERE EVENTUALLY PUT ON TRIAL FOR WAGING AGGRESSIVE WAR, HE'D MAKE SURE THAT BLAIR AND GOLDSMITH WERE IN THE DOCK BESIDE THEM.

Bush, Blair and their minions have committed a monstrous crime, and they know it -- hence all the convolutions, before the war and after, to inoculate themselves from prosecution. But with Kendall-Smith and Fitzgerald, the long-moribund figure of the law is re-awakening. It's weak, it's bleary, it certainly might fail. But now the conspirators will have to live cowering in its shadow for the rest of their days.

Scapegoat Bush Silenced by a Firing Squad?

INJECTING LIVE CANCER CELLS IN THE BLOODSTREAM

by Henk Ruyssenaars

FPF- Nov. 3 - 2005 - One of the theories international observers have, is that George W. Bush and some buddies are going to get all the blame, while the rest of the for profit killing murderers behind the scenes walk more or less free. 'Covered' as always by their own malignant media. One of the strategies may be, that Bush's detoriating state of what's left of his mind, will be used in a future media campaign to let the rest of the crooks of the hooks; while Bush - as the fall guy optima forma - is put in front of a firing squad to be silenced forever. [http://tinyurl.com/8e44j]

There are plenty of alternatives, as seen in the Clinton era - http://tinyurl.com/8hrsy - and it's possible that all blame is heaped on 'Dubya' after 'suiciding' him, or the people involved get the nowadays usual artificial 'heart attack': the stress, you know? During the last decades one of the favored methods - taken from the former Soviet secret service KGB - is injecting live cancer cells in the bloodstream, under the guise of 'vitamins' or something the like as an excuse.

This way securing a fast 'spread' - metastase - literally a malignant 'shot' which is very easy during a 'health check'. The result for the 'patient' - as any doctor will confirm - is fast death by a 'natural cause': cancer. But Bush and his advisers in the political racket maybe goes to a deserved Hell after some 'lamentable accidente'... [http://tinyurl.com/dznsv] - Not so long ago Americans were fostered to be good human beings: if they try to be that nowadays, they are 'suicided' like happened to Vince Foster. [http://tinyurl.com/7q8rd]

POL POT AND SIMILAR MASS MURDERERS

As a dead man, Bush can't even defend himself one way or the other anymore, and is at his best: very silent. Not that there is any defense for what he's doing; ordering/allowing the present genocides and the rest of the global crimes. This inhuman administration with Bush as the front man will for always be remembered as the worst plague this far: worse than Pol Pot and similar mass murderers, the two-legged crimes against humanity. The people at present in command of the US have outdone them all, and the wrecked image of what still was OK in the States has been said to be the worst threat to mankind, and worse than Hitler's Nazi 'Third Reich'. [TIME poll: US a Threat? - http://tinyurl.com/4f34]

But even if the neocon managers put all the blame on George Bush and some small fry, via the media they own: they and the rest of the people responsible for the present horror show, are still guilty of the same war crimes as Bush & ilk, according to outside the US still valid international law and the Geneva Conventions. All those war criminals and their collaborators of whatever nationality - and especially all 'Judas Millers' in the media - must be legally punished. Most should get hard labor for life in their own Gulag* [http://tinyurl.com/cj459] which they deserve, because by doling out capital punishment one places oneself on the low level of the murderers: kill them because they killed?

'NAKED EMPERORS' GOING INSANE

It's scary to know how lawless Bush is, to daily see what he can do with the US and the world - [http://tinyurl.com/c8uwv] - and reading the article by the very well connected Doug Thompson below on the behavior of George Bush, automatically the information comes to mind about what happened to some other 'Naked Emperors' going insane in the stressing fog of pressure of their last days. Like Adolf, described by Ian Kershaw.

"In the final extract from his biography of Adolf Hitler, Ian Kershaw charts Hitler's despair in his Berlin bunker as he realized that he had lost the war: "Even for those who had long experience of Hitler's furious outbursts, the tirade that thundered through the bunker for the next half an hour was a shock. One who witnessed it reported that evening: "Something broke inside me today that I still can't grasp."

Hitler screamed that he had been betrayed by all those he had trusted. He railed at the long-standing treachery of the army. Now, even the SS was lying to him. The troops would not fight, he ranted, the anti-tank defenses were down. As Jodl added, he also knew that munitions and fuel would shortly run out.

Hitler slumped into his chair. The storm subsided. His voice fell to practically a whimper. The war was lost, he sobbed. It was the first time any of his small audience had heard him admit it. They were dumbstruck. [end quote]

DUMBSTRUCK PEOPLE IN BUSH's SURROUNDINGS

How dumbstruck the people in Bush surroundings are, is indicated in the story below by Doug Thompson who has written about this many times before, and as one of the first on the web site of Capitol Hill Blue in his column 'The Rant': Bush's Increasing Mental Lapses and Temper Tantrums Worry White House Aides.

"An uncivil war rages inside the walls of the West Wing of the White House, a bitter, acrimonious war driven by a failed agenda, destroyed credibility, dwindling public support and a President who lapses into Alzheimer-like periods of incoherent babbling.

On one side are the dwindling numbers of die-hard loyalists to President George W. Bush, those who support his actions and decisions without question and remain committed to both Bush and scandal-scarred political advisor Karl Rove.

On the other side are the increasing numbers of those who say Rove must go and who worry about the President's declining mental state and his ability to restore credibility with Congress, our foreign allies and the American people.

The war erupted into full-blown shout fests at Camp David this past weekend where decorum broke down in staff meetings and longtime aides threatened to quit unless Rove goes. Insiders say Chief of Staff Andrew Card now leads the anti-Rove legions and has told Bush that he wants out of the high-pressure job.

“LIKE A WARTIME BUNKER”

White House staff members say the White House is “like a wartime bunker” where shell-shocked aides hide from those who disagree with their actions and office pools speculate on how long certain senior aides will last.

Bush, whose obscenity-laced temper tantrums increase with each new setback and scandal, abruptly ended one Camp David meeting by telling everyone in the room to “go fuck yourselves” before he stalked out of the room.

Senior aides describe Bush as increasingly “edgy” or “nervous” or “unfocused.” They say the President goes from apparent coherent thought one moment to aimless rambles about political enemies and those who are “out to get me.”

“It’s worse than the days when Ronald Reagan’s Alzheimer’s began setting in,” one longtime GOP operative told me privately this week. “You don’t know if he’s going to be coherent from one moment to the next. What scares me is if he lapses into one of those fogs during a public appearance.”

Aides say Bush, who has always had trouble focusing during times of stress, is increasingly distant during meetings, often staring off into space during discussions on the nation’s security and other issues.

BUSH’S MIND WANDERS

Card has responded to the crisis by cutting back on the number of staff members with direct access to the President and jumping in to answer questions when Bush’s mind wanders.

“Some people say Karl Rove is ‘Bush’s brain,’” says one increasingly concerned West Winger. “Well Andy has become the President’s voice. He’s there to speak when the President seems unable to find form an answer.”

Bush’s mental state is a hot topic on Internet blogs and has increased since this web site disclosed last year that the White House physician had placed the President on anti-depressant medication – a story the administration never denied. Others, including prominent psychiatrists like Dr. Justin Frank of George Washington University, wonder if Bush, an admitted heavy drinker who claims he quit without any professional help, is hitting the bottle again.

An increasing number of mainstream media outlets, including Newsweek, The Washington Post and the New York Daily News recently confirmed our earlier reports about Bush’s temper tantrums.

“Bush usually reserves his celebrated temper for senior aides because he knows they can take it,” the Daily News reported. “Lately, however, some junior staffers also have faced the boss’s wrath.”

NOT A PLEASANT SIGHT

“This is not some manager at McDonald’s chewing out the help," a source with close ties to the White House told the paper. “This is the president of the United States, and it’s not a pleasant sight.”

Bush loyalists claim the President can survive his current spate of political troubles and emerge stronger than ever but an increasing number of White House aides express increasing doubt. Some even go so far as to speculate if the President’s deteriorating mental condition can survive another three years in office.

“The President has lost his focus, his ability to govern and the trust of the American people,” says one longtime GOP operative.

“Those are things that are difficult to recapture when you’re on top of your game and this President has taken one too many blows to the head.”
