US can't kill resistance in United Nations
PRESIDENT HUGO CHAVEZ HANDS VENEZUELA'S CANDIDACY FOR A UN SECURITY COUNCIL SEAT TO BOLIVIA
FPF/HR comment: The strong support for Venezuela versus the would-be global dictatorship of the US, this time concerning the voting in the UN for a temporary seat on the Security Council, shows the growing global resistance. All threats, arms twisting, the communications tapping. blackmailing and bribing by the US and it's collaborators this far only resulted in a stalemate. Venezuela is not 'The Mouse that Roared' as depicted in the 1959 movie* but shows to be a sovereign state which openly and secretly is supported and backed by two-thirds of the 192 countries in the UN.
"THE MOUSE THAT ROARED" - is about small states - like Venezuela or North Korea - which through US threats are forced to get a 'doomsday weapon' to force the US war machine back in their blood drenched trenches: The tiny Duchy defeats the United States, purely by accident, by capturing the Q-bomb, a prototype doomsday device that could destroy the world if triggered. THE BUSH & BOLTON BANDITS IN THE UN keep getting it smack between the warmongering eyes, as Patrick J. A REAL BATTLE AGAINST PRESSURES AND PLOYS OF IMPERIALISM
The President praises the work done by ambassador Francisco Arias Cardenas, Jorge Valero and Roy Chaderton whom he says have engaged in a real battle against pressures and ploys of imperialism. Threats to the Bolivarian process will never stop, Chavez Frias maintains, they will be eternal like the Revolution itself but "we will continue to defeat those threats, minimizing and confronting them whether they come from the outside, or inside or if they are combined."
The President says Venezuela has managed to consolidate between 75 and 80 votes at the United Nations and there are other variables that one must consider, such as support from China which has 1.3 billion inhabitants, political and economic power, Russia the whole of the Southern Cone Economic Zone (Mercosur) and the Caribbean basin (Caricom).
80% OF COUNTRIES IN LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN SUPPORT VENEZUELA, the President says, and Guatemala is being used. "We are sorry that the US Empire uses Guatemala to a halt legitimate aspirations of Venezuela. Venezuela is today the voice of the Third World and the peoples of the world."
Voting at the UN General Assembly has been suspended for five days to allow Guatemala and Venezuela to hold talks.
Venezuelan Ambassador Francisco Arias Cardenas says Venezuela does not want to cause fatigue in the Assembly.
"It's a lesson to big countries that to try to impose on smaller countries with blackmail and pressure ... it won't work ... the decision to postpone the voting is based on a petition from the UN Latin American and Caribbean group."
